A new swimming pool in a Minnesota suburb is getting the green light from the city, but the details are being kept from the public.
Ricky Williamsworth, executive director of the Twin Cities Recreation and Parks Department, says the City of Minneapolis has approved the $2.6 million pool for the former South Park Recreation Center at 5150 N. Main St., about 40 minutes east of Minneapolis.
It will be the first pool in Minneapolis.
Williamsworth says the pool will include two showers, a barber shop and a bar and grill.
He says it will be a place for children to swim and a place to learn.
He also says the new building will include a fitness center and a sauna, both on the same site as South Park.
The city of Minneapolis says it has not made any commitments about when the pool and pool deck will open.
