President Donald Trump signed an executive order that calls for federal schools to teach swimmers how to swim, and to give them training on how to use a “swim board.”
The order also requires the Trump administration to provide federal swimmers with swimming lessons.
But according to The Wall Street Journal, the order hasn’t been enforced.
“We’re still waiting on the federal government to come and provide us with training on the safe and effective use of swim boards,” said Jessica M. DeSantis, the deputy superintendent of the district that includes Kennedy, a city of 1.3 million.
The Journal reports that Kennedy is the only district that hasn’t received any federal swim lessons.
“I’m just so tired of hearing about this stuff,” said DeSantson.
“This is a big deal.
We’re going to be taking the time to develop swim skills, and we’re going be doing that in a safe, respectful way.”
The Associated Press has contacted the Trump White House for comment.
