Dyer, North Carolina — A day after the deadly shooting in Dyer that left four people dead and a gunman dead, schools in the town of Dyer reopened for swimming lessons Tuesday.
The Dyer High School District released the following statement on the shooting:Dyerville ISD School Superintendent, Dave Gales, says the district was aware of the shooting at Dyer County High School and immediately opened a swimming class.
The district is working with the community and law enforcement to assist in identifying the suspect, Gales says.
“We do know that this suspect did not live in Dyersville.
We have not identified the individual who perpetrated this horrific act,” Gales said in a statement.
“We are still investigating the suspect’s identity and we will provide additional information once we have it.”
Authorities say a suspect is still at large in the shooting.
